Neat Patching App

I just wanted to take a moment to let everyone know about a nifty patching and updating application I came across a while back. It is called “Patch My PC” and it seems to work fairly well updating most applications. The most important thing it does is automatically update and install Java and Flash updates when they come out. Java and Flash are popular targets for virus and malware authors because many computers are running older versions of Flash and Java which have security holes. This is also why some antivirus applications like Avast warn you when you aren’t running the newest version.

Patch My PC is available from patchmypc.net, and I recommend using it to check your computers on a regular basis (or run it as a service so it checks for updates daily). For the peace of mind gained from knowing networks are secure against third party exploits like I mentioned with Flash and Java, GeekOut Technologies offers managed patching services for businesses, nonprofits, NGOs, and churches through our Managed IT Services.
